Govt warns farmers against selling sugarcane in other states

The Uttar Pradesh today said it will not allow the sugarcane farmers of the state to sell their produce to mill owners in neighbouring states of Haryana and Uttarakhand, which they claimed offered better prices. Criminal cases will be registered against those who purchase sugarcane for minimum price in Uttar Pradesh and sell it in neighbouring states of Haryana and Uttarakhand, the district sugarcane officer VK Shukla told reporters.
